Introduction
It’s something we all do but few of us think about: locking our bedroom door at night. For many people, it’s simply a habit, a way to ensure more privacy and security in our homes. But is locking your bedroom door necessary?
According to a study by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the answer is yes. Researchers studied 159 cases of sexual assault that occurred in residences and found that in 85 percent of those cases, the assailant had entered the victim’s home through an unlocked door, you still think locking the door won’t be a good idea?
Types of bedroom doors locks
There are three types of bedroom door locks- keyed, keyless, and electronic.
A keyed lock requires a key to be inserted into the lock to open the door. These locks are typically more secure than other types of locks, but they can also be more difficult to operate.
A keyless lock doesn’t require a key to open the door. Instead, it uses a code or a fingerprint to unlock the door. These locks are typically more convenient than keyed locks, but they may not be as secure.
An electronic lock is a locking device that requires an electronic input, such as a keycard, to unlock. Electronic locks are often used in place of traditional keyed locks in both residential and commercial settings.
Door lock installation tips
When installing a new door lock, there are a few key things you need to keep in mind. The most important thing is to make sure the door is properly aligned. If the door isn’t straight, the lock will be off-center and may not work properly.
Another thing to keep in mind is the height of the door. The lock should be installed at a height that is comfortable for the person who will be using it. It’s also important to make sure that the door is hung so that it swings inward, rather than outward. This will help to keep the door locked when it’s closed.
